Scarf for the New Year

Overshot is the structure – with a base warp/tabby in 20/2 silk and a pattern weft of my handspun angora/cashmere blend. Sett at 16 epi this drapes softly – and is certainly warm! The design is inspired by Season 6 Episode 4 in JST School of Weaving.

Turned twill on the wire

still taking my inspiration from the JST online guild (janestaffordtextiles.com/online-guild-episodes) I dove into Season 5 and some glorious turned twill towels. This was great fun and produced stunning towels (IMHO) in many patterns and colours all on one warp. Using 8/2 cotton at 20 epi, I picked colours from my own stash and experimented with… Continue reading Turned twill on the wire

Making negative space – oh so lovely!

I joined Jane Stafford’s Online Guild this year for the first time. I had the opportunity a few years ago to participate in a “live” workshop on Salt Spring Island – what a treat. The JST Online Guild is a wonderful reminder and continues my exploration of this wonderful world of weaving. The episode (S3,E1)… Continue reading Making negative space – oh so lovely!

More taquete

Staying at home has pushed me to move some long-term projects forward. I have been interested in weft-faced patterns for a while and have been trying to get my head around creating patterns. Taquete – which I saw somewhere described as “summer & winter with no tabby” – I will update this when I find… Continue reading May flowers and such

Spring Again! With time on my hands I’m back online :-)

‘Tis the time of Covid-19 isolation, staying at home to protect our health services so those who will need help can get it. So, I am working on a bamboo wrap – in blues and purple. The first sampling looks like this: It was a lovely warp. The finished piece was lovely – silky with… Continue reading Spring Again! With time on my hands I’m back online 🙂
